Our IVF Journey

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11 is a verse I clung to at the start and throughout our infertility journey. It was taped in my closet and ingrained in my brain.

Unexplained infertility. After several regular appointments, countless medications, IUI and an exploratory surgery this was the diagnosis we were left with. It wasn’t a black or white answer but the roller coaster we had been on urged us to move forward with IVF.

Friends, I am thankful for science but more importantly I am thankful for a God who has had a hand in it all from the beginning. We relocated to San Antonio for Rudy’s job smack dab in the middle of this process. THAT in itself was divine intervention as we were able to have access to the world’s best infertility doctors right down the street. IVF may be a gray area for some, but for me it is an answer to prayers. It is hope. It is full hearts and arms after a long journey.

Many do not know that we attempted our third and final round of IVF a year and a half ago. It was then that I decided to take my big camera along and document the process. Having had two successful IVF transfers before, I went in more confident and hopeful than in the past. Unfortunately our third baby left us almost as soon as we began to let it sink in we would be parents to three. It was heartbreaking and a part of the IVF journey I did not think I would face.

BUT I was met with love, grace & patience.

Infertility has not been an easy road, no one will tell you that it is. But it is a road we should speak about, a road we should share with others and a road we would definitely travel again and again to have our beautiful healthy boys.

These pictures are not perfect, but they tell a story, our story, one that ended too soon leaving it half-documented & I am thankful that I have them.
